UFC President: the May 9 Tournament will cost us dearly, but we will do it

The UFC President, Dana White, who announced that the organization will continue its activities on may 9, has no doubt that this time he will be able to hold the event.

“We were supposed to continue working this Saturday at the Tachi Palace casino in Northern California. I organized everything, and we could do it, ” the head of the organization said in an interview with Sirius XM. “But I was asked not to host the event by my partners with ESPN, who I respect, so I complied with their request. I gave them this weekend and got back to work. We’ll be back later, and we have a date – may 9»

White made it clear that the upcoming event is approved by ESPN management, and there will be no more surprises on their part.

“I’m not going to stop, so I sorted it out. Can we do this? Yes you can, and we’ll do it. The may 9 tournament will cost us dearly. Very expensive, but I’m willing to spend money to do it»

“I’m not going to sit and wait for someone to tell me that I can get started, do this, do that. You have to look ahead, and I have obligations to my employees and fighters. I don’t want to dismiss anyone, and I don’t want the fighters to sit for a year without fighting and the opportunity to earn money»

Recall that on may 9, the UFC plans to hold an event, the main event of which will be a fight for the temporary lightweight title between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaitzhi. On the same day, Henry Cejudo will defend the lightweight title against Dominic Cruz, and Amanda Nunes in a fight against Felicia Spencer will put on the line the UFC championship belt in the Featherweight category. Presumably, the tournament will be held in Florida or Las Vegas.
